A TOURIST GUIDE TO LANCRE
Devised by Terry Pratchett
and Stephen Briggs
View of Lancre by Paul Kidby
Corgi, 75,000 copies, 1/5/98 (0-552-14608-0)
A few
advance copies have errors in the key to the map, for example Granny
Weatherwax’s cottage is shown as 25 when it should be 26, no.25
actually marking the village of Bad Ass, and no.24, correctly
Moorlands, is referenced as Bad Ass. The first published issue
contains a cancel page, which corrects the errors. The rest of the
‘first printing’ was actually a reprint. The faulty copies were
wrapped in a more fragile shrink wrapping material than the
corrected ones, which had the seal line down the middle of the back
cover as opposed to down the side of the booklet.

these 20,022 copies were for the trade, 3,000 for BCA and 1,247 in
paperback for TSP. The trade and BCA copies were identical. In
addition to the above, 6,694 copies were printed in Australia for
that market. Ebury consider all these copies to be the first
printing. The second printing, delivered on 1 July, comprised 4,979
copies for the trade, and had the 1 removed from the printing
history line on the title verso; the third printing, delivered on 28
July, comprised 3,064 copies for the trade, in which some minor
corrections had been made to the text, and the 2 being deleted from
the printing line; the fourth printing delivered on 15 September,
comprised 3,000 copies for the trade plus 1,283 copies in paperback
for TSP, and had the 3 deleted from the printing line.

About 61 copies
were released with an incorrect ISBN-13: 978-0-385-60644-8 on
the back cover – possibly only those sent out to sales
representatives, to the authors and those distributed within the
publishers. As the barcode was also incorrect, few would have
been actually sold to the public until a sticker giving the
correct data had been applied to cover the incorrect
information. These were sent out to all booksellers who’d
received copies before the error was noticed.
